These halls in this building were almost the same, except for the signs on the walls and numbers on the doors.  This reminds me of a maze in the corn field, only this isn't in a corn field where you can hide and scare people who are wandering around in the maze… Anyways, I ignored all of the scents who were not familiar to me. I continued to run, staying alert. The plan was a lot easier in my mind. Soon lights began to flash and the sound of an alarm came on. I have to hurry.

I quickened my pace, from a run to a full out sprint. I continued to sniff the air as I looked around. Two guards came out of the rooms in front of me. They pointed their guns at me. As they began to shoot I jumped out of the way, ran on my hands and feet and when I was right next to them, I pushed them into one of the rooms that one of them came out of.  I slammed the door closed and locked the door. I turned around ignoring the guards banging on the closed door and began to sprint again.

After twenty minutes of sprinting and fighting off the guards, I caught Lily's scent. I quickly followed it. I picked the lock and opened the door. Lily quickly ran out of the door and ran down the hall, I ran after her, catching up to her.

"You're really slow you know that Corlinn?" Lily shouted.

"Well, I'm sorry. I didn't know where the scientists caged you." I replied.

"Caged?" Lily repeated the word.

"Yeah." I replied. Lily shook her head.

"So, do you know where Kurst is?" I asked.

"No. Do you?" Lily asked me.

"No…" I answered, waiting to be yelled at.

"Corlinn! You idiot!" Lily shouted at me.

I whined as Lily shouted, but I quickly stopped. I heard a yell, the voice sounded familiar. I took a sharp turn to the left, almost slamming my forehead against the corner. Lily followed me. The hall lead to a dead end, there was a thick metal door. I looked at Lily. She nodded. She lifted her hand, her palm pointing towards the hinges of the metal door. Water started to form on the hinges and the hinges rusted quickly. I kicked the metal door with my immense strength. The door fell and Lily and I walked into the room.  I was tackled from behind, someone was hissing in my ear.

"Kurst!" Lily shouted. Kurst got off of me. I quickly got up turned around and looked at Kurst. She was backing away a bit, then she stopped. She looked at both Lily and I.  She soon looked down the hall.

"We're wasting time! Let's go!" I barked as I ran past both Lily and Kurst. I could hear both Lily and Kurst following.  The alarm was still going and the lights were still flashing.

"Corlinn, do you even know where the exit is?" Kurst asked me.

"Uh… No." I said.

"You don't even know where the exit is?! Corlinn, you ARE an idiot!" Lily hissed.

"Look, do you want me to help you escape or not?!" I barked. Lily became silent. I continued to lead them closer and closer to the exit. I took another sharp turn to the right, but this time I sprained my right ankle and I slid into the wall.  I got up, leaning against the wall.  Lily ran towards me and Kurst followed her.

"Way to go." She growled. I whined.

"We need to keep going. Corlinn can you walk?" Kurst asked.

"Yeah. I can run - I'll try to keep up." I said trying to keep the ring of pain hidden.

"Okay. " Lily said as she began the run. Kurst followed her. I followed also. I tried to ignore the burning pain. I knew we were getting closer and closer to the exit, to the freedom we once had. A few guards ran towards Kurst and Lily. I watched them fighting the guards from where I stopped. I can't fight, I was too badly injured. I also looked around, Lily whistled to get my attention.  I looked towards Lily, she began to run again. I quickly followed.

I continued to ignore the burning pain coming from my ankles. I started to slow down; the pain was burning away the energy I had. Kurst stopped and looked back at me. My pace slowed down from a run to a jog.

"Lily! Corlinn is slowing down!" Kurst shouted at Lily. Lily stopped and glared at me.

"I thought you said you could keep up!" Lily shouted at me. Yep, she's taken the role of a leader all right.

"I just need to rest?" I shrugged.

"Corlinn stop joking around or we'll get caught." Lily hissed.

"Too late…" I replied as I looked around. We were completely surrounded by the guards.  I whined as they pointed their guns at us. Lily, Kurst and I knew that we shouldn't make any sudden movements at all.  I looked at Lily.

"Now what? I asked her.

"I guess we should give up." Lily replied.  Those were the words I did not want to hear. Give up? That ridiculous! We were so close and yet so far? We should never give up. I growled loudly at the guards. They didn't move. I whined, knowing that both Lily and Kurst could see a flash of sadness in my eyes.  I ran towards Lily.

There was a thunderous bang, followed by pain going through my back near my heart. Everything slowed down. There was the red liquid, the blood going towards the floor. Lily quickly flicked her wrist and mist suddenly appeared. Everything started the get darker… And darker… I could hear shouting. I only recognized two voices, Lily and Kurst.

The darkness took over I could no longer see and soon my hearing went, along with the pain.  And only two words entered my mind. Two words that you would hear from a children's book. The. End.  My life ended as I tried to help my friends to escape from here…

Sorry that this chapter is so short... ^^;
