Literature Text

It began to rain as the brother and sister walked into the city.  The clouds kept the sun's light hidden away.  Both the brother and sister shivered, they weren't wearing any coats. They continued to walk down the street, trying to find a place that can keep them from getting even wetter. The brother sneezed and the sister looked at him.

"Are you catching a cold?" Bathare asked.

"I think the cold caught me." Jurn said trying to make his sister laugh, it didn't work though. She just looked straight ahead again and continued to walk. They soon found a shelter from the rain; it was in front of a house though. They didn't care; they just walked towards there and sat on the stairs. Bathare looked at the street as her brother, Jurn, was slowly falling asleep. A few minutes passed by and the door behind them opened. Bathare quickly turned around, looking at a woman who looked to be thirty or maybe forty years old.

"My, you two look like you are cold. Where are your parents?" The woman asked.

"We are cold, if we weren't we wouldn't be shivering." Bathare said with a slight growl. Jurn woke up; he looked at Bathare then at the woman.

"You still didn't answer my question. Where are your parents?" The woman asked again.

"Like I'd tell you." Bathare glared at the woman.

"They aren't here." Jurn said.

"Jurn!"

"What?"

"Oh… I see… What about your family? "The woman asked.

"I'm sorry, but we aren't supposed to talk to strangers." Bathare said.

"Yeah… My sis' is right. And you are pretty strange by askin' all those questions." Jurn said.

"I'm sorry for seeming to be a stranger. I'm just curious, because you are sitting on the porch of an orphanage, and if you don't have any parents you should come in."  The woman said.  Bathare glared at her.

"Why should we believe you?" Bathare asked.

"If you don't believe me, then I'll just leave you two outside until morning." The woman said. Jurn looked at his sister.

"Fine." Bathare said as she got up walked towards the door. Jurn followed her. The woman stepped to the side to let both of them inside.  Inside the house there were a lot of kids.

"Follow me you two. I'll show you two to your rooms." The woman said, leading them up the stairs. Jurn looked at his sister, who was following the woman. Jurn followed his sister. The woman opened the door to a room with a bed in the middle and a window.

"You…" The woman pointed at Bathare, "Will stay in this room."

"You know, it is rude to point." Bathare said with a smirk as she walked in the room, took her shoes off and got into the bed. Bathare tried to keep awake, but due to traveling for a long distance, she began to fall asleep The woman walked down the long hallway. Jurn following her six feet behind her. The woman stopped and opened the door to a room that had one bed in the middle of the room and it had a window also.

"This is where you are going to stay." The woman said looking at Jurn. Jurn ran into the room and slammed to door in the woman's face. The woman shrugged and walked down stairs.  Jurn kicked off his shoes, jumped into his bed and hid under the covers. He soon began to fall asleep, because he was tired from all that walking. Bathare was the only one who had a nightmare. She was in the forest that surrounded her old town. She walked into the town, well, what's left of it. Some of the houses were burned down, while the others had their doors look like they were kicked open and the windows smashed. Bathare tried not to get scared. Something moved behind her. She quickly turned around, nothing.  She sighed with relief. Then something poked her, she turned around to see the werewolf who killed her father. She whimpered as she backed away, slowly.

"Hello kid. Are you ready to join your mother and father?" He said as he pulled out his sword.

"No!" Bathare shouted as she turned around and ran away from him.  He chased after her. She kept hearing her name. She looked around as she ran. She soon tripped over a tree root and fell. She looked behind her to see the sword swing at her. Bathare opened her eyes and quickly got up. She looked around to see she was in the room and the woman ran into her room.

"What happened?" The woman said, looking like she was worried.

"Nothing." Bathare snarled at the woman as she lay back down in her bad and fell back to sleep.

"Okay…" the woman said, wondering about something as she left Bathare's room. Bathare was soon woken up by her brother screaming.

"Bathare!!! Help! He's gunna kill me!" Jurn shouted as he hid underneath Bathare's bed.  Bathare got up and got out of her bed. She saw a boy who seemed to be a foot taller than her walk into her room.

"What do you think you are doing?" She growled.

"Looking for that little runt." He replied.  Bathare growled and quickly punched the boy so hard that he went flying out of her room.  The woman saw that ran into Bathare's room and said that her and her brother weren't allowed to stay in the orphanage anymore.

"Fine. We'll leave." Bathare said as she walked out of the building. Jurn quickly followed her.
